Helpdesk Tech

Austin Brewer
Bio & Background:
I have worked in computer repair and MSP culture for 10+ years. I am highly motivated by learning new things and pursuing solutions to problems. Truthfully, nothing feels better than being able to solve someone’s frustrations and hear/see a smile.
Fun Fact:
I was 7th generation born in a small farming town here in North Carolina.
What’s a common tech issue you see?
Most common issues I see are mistyped passwords, being on the wrong network, or my favorite the batteries died in the wireless keyboard and mouse.
What do you enjoy most about working in tech & cybersecurity?
No day is ever the same. Each day presents new issues.
What is the biggest IT myth you wish people would stop believing?
I wish people would stop believing the Apple and Microsoft calls. I promise you they will never call you…. they don’t care that much.
What does “great IT support” mean to you?
Great IT support is proactive, and works with their client to understand their needs but also explains what their managed services actually covers. Nothing can be “Great” without proper communication.
What’s one thing every business should be doing to improve their cybersecurity right now?
Managed Email or Endpoint Protection. Your pick. Either will make a difference in your business’ defense.
What common misconceptions do businesses have about IT services?
That because they do not hear from us or have to call us, we are not worth paying for or they don’t need us.
What do you think makes a client choose IPM over another provider?
From what I can see, we put in systems that work proactively. We communicate with the client to let them know what is going on. There is not confusion around what our services are.
